A visit to Heptonstall

The sun was sighted for the first time in what feels like weeks this morning, so I took the opportunity to have a short trip out up to the nearby village of Heptonstall

Heptonstall is unique in having the only churchyard in the UK that has two churches in it, the part ruined St Thomas a Becket which dates back to the 11th century and the replacement which is dedicated to St Thomas the Apostle, and was opened in 1854. A little of the history of the village and the buildings in it can be found on the village website.
